The Recreational Equipment Checkout is co-located in the Pine View Campground office, near Fort McCoy between Sparta and Tomah on Hwy 21 with the entrance approximately 1.6 miles west of the Fort McCoy Main gate. Watch for the Pine View Campground/Whitetail Ridge Ski Area signs and follow them to the campground office.

From the La Crosse Area:

1.  Take I90 East to WI Hwy 27 (Exit 25-Sparta/Melvina Exit, approximately 23 miles)

2.  Take a Left onto WI Hwy 27 (also known as Black River Street)

3.  Take a Right on Montgomery Street (3rd set lights from Interstate, approximately 2.5 miles)

4.  Go straight through the first stop sign

5.  Take a Left at the second Stop Sign (Hwy 21)

6.  Continue straight on WI Hwy 21 for approximately 7 miles

7.  Take a Left by the Pine View Campground/Whitetail Ridge Ski Area sign and follow the signs to the campground.

From Madison/Tomah Area:

1.  Take I94 to Tomah (exit 143 Tomah/Fort McCoy)

2.  Take a Left onto WI Hwy 21 (west) 

3.  Go straight through 2 sets of stop lights (you will pass Subway and at the second set of lights a Super Wal-Mart)

4.  Continue straight on WI Hwy 21 for approximately 9 miles

5.  Take a Right by the Pine View Campground/Whitetail Ridge Ski Area sign and follow the signs to the campground.

Thank you for choosing Pine View Equipment Check-Out for your equipment rental.  In order to ensure that our customers have a positive experience please read and adhere to our rental policies. 

RESERVATION POLICY:  All reservations must be paid in full at the time of reservation. Rental customers must be 18 years of age and must present a valid ID at time of checkout for to rent any equipment.  Reservations are non-transferrable and must be reserved by the individual that will be using the equipment.

CHECKOUT/CHECK-IN POLICY:  Rental equipment can be picked up during office hours (or by prior arrangement) and must be returned by 11 AM on the return date, unless specified as a 24hr (daily) rental.  Late check-ins will result deposit being deducted $25.00 beginning of each hour that the equipment is late.  These fees will continue to accumulate unless prior arrangement is made or Pine View is contacted before the scheduled return time to request an exception to policy.  Such exceptions will only be granted on a case by case basis.

CHECKOUT PROCEDURES:  Pine View Maintenance Staff will guide customers through these processes.  Customers must report to the office before entering the Equipment Yard for pickup or return of equipment.  The rental item will be inspected before checkout and an inspection form will be signed by the customer and Maintenance Staff to confirm the status of the rental, reporting any current damages.  The same form will be signed to verify cleanliness and report any damages upon return.  This form is then brought to the front desk staff to assess any warranted fees and/or return of the deposit.

TRASH REMOVAL/CLEANING: Customers are responsible for removing trash from the rental when leaving.  Rental must be clean prior to return and failure to do so will result in cleaning fees being assessed and customer losing partial or full deposit.

EARLY RETURN: Refunds for early return of equipment or rentals will not be authorized.

EQUIPMENT OFF POST: Eligibility to use items off post is limited to active duty military, retired military (and their immediate Family members), U.S. DoD employees, retired DoD employees, and DoD contractors working full-time at Fort McCoy. Must present a Military ID or CAC at checkout.

INSURANCE: Customers are required to obtain adequate insurance from their Insurance Company ensuring coverage for damage and liability that may occur.  This includes, but is not limited to, watercraft and towing coverage.  In cases where your insurance does not offer coverage, you will be held responsible for any additional charges due to damages incurred.  Customer’s initials confirms adequate insurance coverage.

DEPOSITS: Equipment rentals from Pine View require a refundable deposit of up to $150. This includes, but is not limited to, watercraft, campers and other designated equipment.  Deposits are due at the time of check in and can only be made with a valid credit card or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).  CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR THE DEPOSIT. Failure to provide the required deposit will result in cancellation of the reservation and no refunds will be issued. Deposits will be returned after the rental has been assessed for damages and cleanliness.

DAMAGES: Customers are responsible for all damages to equipment while in their possession. Customer is expected to return the equipment in the same condition it was received. Deposits do not prohibit Pine View Campground from charging additional maintenance or cleaning fees if they are warranted.  The deposit will be refunded back to the same credit/debit card at the time of check-in or after equipment is cleared from inspection. Please plan an approximate hour for the check-in and checkout process.

CANCELLATION POLICY: All transactions are considered final.  Cancellations must be made 8 days before the reservation and a full refund will be issued.  

FIREARMS REGULATIONS: Pine View campground is part of the federal installation of Fort McCoy and subject to its regulations.  Any firearm that is brought onto Pine View campground must be registered with the Fort McCoy Police, regardless of intended use.  Discharging of firearms, bows, paintball guns, or fireworks is not permitted.  Customers initials are required verifying that no unregistered firearms are in their possession or that all firearms are registered through https://ftmccoy.isportsman.net/firearm%20registration.aspx.

BOAT SAFETY CERTIFICATION: Boaters Safety Certification is required for all boat rentals that have motors.  Customer’s initials verify that that they have a current Boaters Safety Certification.

WOODSPLITTER: Equipment must be returned full of gas and cleaned.
